Graduate Student Awards for the Lindau Meeting of Nobel Laureates in Lindau, Germany

The Office of Sponsored Programs is coordinating nominations for the Graduate Student Awards for the Lindau Meeting of the Nobel Laureates and Students in Lindau, Germany. Award recipients will receive a travel grant to attend the 67th Lindau Nobel Laureate conference, taking place June 25, 2017 – June 30, 2017. The 2017 focus is CHEMISTRY.

To be eligible, a student must be a U.S. citizen, must have completed at least two academic years of study toward a doctoral degree in the field of chemistry or related discipline by June 2017, but not be planning a dissertation/thesis defense before December 31, 2017; be currently enrolled at the University as a full-time graduate student; and must be participating in a publicly- or privately-funded research project.

There is an institutional limit of two nominations for Kent State University. If you wish to nominate a graduate student for this award, please contact the Office of Sponsored Programs at 330-672-2070, or email Diana Skok at dskok@kent.edu, no later than Friday, September 30. If more than two students are nominated, an internal competition will be conducted.

Deadline to notify Sponsored Programs of your desire to nominate a student. Required information includes: student’s name, student’s email address, confirmation that the student meets eligibility requirements, funding source for student’s current research project, name and contact information of the nominating PI.

Friday, October 7, 2016

Application materials deadline for internal competition (in event that more than two [2] students are nominated). The following materials for internal competition must be submitted by email to dskok@kent.edu: application form, a personal resume of the student, a one-page statement by the student on why participation in the meeting is important for their graduate education; and a strong letter of reference by the student’s research advisor.

October 13, 2016

Students and advisors are notified of the results of the Internal Competition (if necessary).
