NIH Workshops at Kent State University

Research and Sponsored Programs (RASP) and the Initiative for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) presented a series of workshops to aid in the preparation of NIH grant proposals.  Elizabeth Tornquist, an author and long-time grant writing consultant, led the discussion.  For over 30 years, Tornquist has taught scientific writing to nurses, physicians, and public health professionals. She continues to provide editorial consultation and assistance on technical and scientific writing to nurses, physicians and health care professionals around the country, as well as internationally.

On December 6, 2010 (9a.m. - 3 p.m.) topics included:

• An overview of NIH funding options
• How to prepare yourself to write a successful NIH grant
• What do study sections and funding agencies look for in a grant?

On August 15, 2011 (9a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) Tornquist returned to present: "Ensuring Impact and Innovation in Your Proposal"
