IACUC FAQ General Information
How long does it take to get IACUC approval? What can I do to expedite the process?
Do not wait until the last minute to submit your application. Approval can take 2-6 weeks. The more complete your application is, the quicker you may get approval. When completing the applications please observe the instructions in the form marks up on the right hand side. Incomplete and improperly completed forms may slow down the process.

Do I have to be present for the semiannual inspections?
Either you or an experienced lab member who is aware of all animal care and use activities occurring in the lab must be present for inspection. If an experienced member cannot be present please contact the IACUC office and facility supervision so that an alternate date/time can be arranged.
I expect to get extramural funding for a project. What do I need to do?
In accordance with federal policy, the institution must ensure that the procedures in any federal grant are accounted for in an approved IACUC protocol. Sponsored programs will notify the IACUC office of the potential for a grant and the IACUC office will initiate a congruency review.
