Minimal Risk/Class Projects

Minimal Risk is defined as - the probability and magnitude of harm or discomfort anticipated in the research are not greater in and of themselves than those ordinarily encountered in daily life or during the performance of routine physical or psychological examinations or tests (Code of Federal Regulations 45 46).

• Consent form template (for Minimal Risk/Class Projects) Signed or documented consent is required unless you are conducting an anonymous survey. In this case it is permissible to not obtain 'documented' consent, however you must ensure that there is a consent statement that describes what the project is about, who is conducting it, why it is being conducted, what the data is used for, and if identifiable information will be collected.  

Action Research

Action Research is considered a practical was of looking at a teachers' own work to check that it is as they would like it to be. The teacher is assessing the effectiveness of some ACTION (i.e. intervention) he or she has taken to improve some dimension of his or her teaching. Action research is a combination of both practice and research that is designed to evaluate the efficacy of a teaching process.
