Steps to Register
Getting Started: Incoming Students
To learn more about admission requirements, please visit the Admissions Office website or contact an Admissions Counselor at 330-672-2444.
Student Accessibility Services (SAS) encourages students to register with our office as soon as possible to ensure timely provision of any SAS-approved accommodations. Please review the registration steps below and contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Step 1: Provide documentation
Students requesting accommodations from SAS may be required to provide documentation of their specific disability. To assist students and practitioners, we have developed disability documentation guidelines and verification forms to identify essential information for determining reasonable accommodations. Documentation may be submitted by fax, email, postal mail, or dropped off in the SAS office. SAS contact information is listed below. To learn more about documentation guidelines, please visit the ‘Disability Documentation Guidelines & Forms’ section of our website.
Step 2: Schedule an intake appointment
Contact SAS to schedule your intake appointment. Intake appointments typically last about one hour. During your intake appointment, you will meet with an Accessibility Specialist in SAS to discuss the nature of your disability and your accommodation needs, review SAS policies and procedures, and learn about helpful resources available to you at KSU. SAS prefers not to conduct intake appointments by telephone unless the student resides a considerable distance from KSU and/or the student will be enrolled in only web-based courses. If a phone intake is conducted, the student will need to schedule an abbreviated intake appointment at the start of their first semester at the Kent Campus.
Step 3: Complete the Student Information Form
You'll need to be prepared to discuss your disability and how it impacts you academically during your intake appointment. To assist you in preparing for your intake appointment, please complete the Student Information Form.
Step 4: Utilize SAS Online Services each semester
Once you have completed your registration with SAS, you must provide an accommodation letter to your professors each semester if you wish to utilize your academic accommodations. SAS Online Services allows you to e-mail your accommodation letters directly to your professors without having to come into the SAS office. SAS Online Services also provides you the opportunity to specifically tailor your accommodation letters to your individual classes. To learn more about SAS Online Services, please visit the ‘SAS Online Services’ section of our website.
