Virginia Hamilton Conference on Multicultural Literature for Youth

Kent State University’s 31st Annual Virginia Hamilton Conference on Multicultural Literature for Youth will be held on the evening of Thursday, April 9, 2015, and all day on Friday, April 10, 2015, at the Kent Student Center. The conference provides a forum for discussion of multicultural themes and issues in literature for children and young adults. "Building Global Citizens Through Literature" is the theme for this year's conference.

The April 9 evening program includes dinner, a keynote address by the 17th Annual Virginia Hamilton Literary Award winner, author/illustrator David Macaulay, and brief remarks by Newbery Honor children's writer and illustrator Grace Lin and Coretta Scott King Award-winning young adult author Rita Williams-Garcia, followed by a special performance and book-signing. April 10 features a full complement of workshops, along with keynote addresses by Lin and Williams-Garcia.
