The School of Library and Information knows how to prepare students to become catalogers, children’s librarians, information specialists and archivists. Now, the School of Library and Information is helping those students find employers in those specialties.

Those interested in learning more about the library profession can speak to library professionals at one of the School of Library and Information’s upcoming Library Careers Nights. The Kent Campus event is at 5 p.m. March 4 in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. The Columbus event is set for 5 p.m. March 10 in the State Library of Ohio.

Each Library Careers Night event will feature exhibitors with representatives from public, academic, school and special libraries (medical, art, law, botanical, historical societies, archives).

Students and guests will attend a panel discussion featuring a range of library professionals, who will offer suggestions about applying for jobs, discuss what employers are looking for and the specialty areas within the library field that are most in demand. Following the discussion, exhibitors will distribute literature and talk with participants about the exhibitor's organization
