A librarian primarily responsible for preparing bibliographic records or metadata to represent the resources in the collections of an information agency, including description, subject analysis, access to information, authority control, metadata application, quality control, and metadata-related decision making. Additional responsibilities include data sharing, consortia collaboration, project management, standard, policy, and workflow development. Also refers to the librarian responsible for supervising a cataloging or metadata department.
