UPDATED FOR FALL 2013
Domestic students should follow these steps when applying to graduate school in the Department of Sociology at Kent State University.
Applications must be completed and submitted online along with the nonrefundable application fee. The online application includes the statement of purpose, but all other application materials (transcripts, letters of reference, GRE scores) must be mailed to:
Division of Graduate Studies
Cartwright Hall
650 Hilltop Drive
Kent State University

Your application will not be considered complete and released to the Department of Sociology until the Division of Graduate Studies receives all of your application materials. An incomplete application will delay the decision process.
The Department of Sociology begins making decisions about graduate assistantships as early as possible in the spring semester for students admitted for the following academic year. Therefore, to ensure full consideration for funding, domestic students should submit their materials to the Division of Graduate Studies by December 15th to ensure that the Department of Sociology receives all the materials by mid-January.
Application Materials
A complete application includes all of the materials described in steps 1-6 below. If you are also interested in a graduate assistantship, you should also complete step 7.The GRE is required of all applicants. The GRE exam is administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). Information about the exams is available from the ETS website.
Have ETS send your official scores to the Division of Graduate Studies address listed above. You can indicate this when you take the exam or by contacting ETS as described on the ETS website.
