Lauren Porter received a Ph.D. in Sociology from the State University of New York at Albany in 2012. Her research largely revolves around issues of punishment, with specific interests in contemporary shame sanctioning and the collateral consequences of incarceration. Lauren is also engaged in research that weds her interests in criminology and social demography. This line of work is aimed at understanding how population dynamics contribute to aggregate trends in crime and punishment.
