Student Sociological Collective
The Kent State Student Sociological Collective meets bi-weekly to plan these exciting events for individuals interested in Sociology. This organization is not just for department majors but welcomes any individual interested in the field of Sociology.
The Collective has many events in the works for this year. Our first social activity was a bowling night planned for Nov 1 as an opportunity for individuals interested in the collective to get to know some of the other officers and members. Collective members spent the evening at the Eastway Alley bowling away the stress of midterm papers and exams.
Plans are underway for other social events including movie nights where we will provide pizza and show a popular film and discuss the sociological implications. One of the goals of the Collective this year is to provide avenues for networking. We are planning to get together with other sociology groups at the regional campuses and neighboring universities. Some of our members are interested in attending the North Central Sociological Association (NCSA) this spring. We also have plans for volunteer and community service so that we can put our theories of social justice and equality to work in our community.
Interested in checking out the Sociological Collective? There are a couple of ways in which you can get involved in our activities and events: There are flyers of our upcoming events on the Sociology bulletin board on the first floor of Merrill Hall. In addition, you can join our flashline.kent.edu group “Sociological Collective” to have updated event information as well as meeting times at your fingertips. We encourage you to check us out and take part in the diverse programs and events the undergraduates in this department have to offer.
