Freshman Scholarships

Scholarships for New Freshmen Entering in Fall 2017

Kent State Stark's first year scholarships are awarded on the basis of high school academic performance. These full and partial-tuition scholarships do not require repayment and are often renewable for one additional year if academic expectations are met. 

2017-2018 Freshman Scholarship Eligibility

  • Must apply and be accepted for admission by March 1, 2017
  • Available to new freshmen (2017 high school graduates)
  • Must attend Kent State Stark for the 2017-2018 academic year
  • Scholarships are for the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 semesters only
  • Scholarships are not available for Summer 2017 or Summer 2018

You will be automatically considered for the freshman scholarships below if you have been admitted to Kent State Stark by March 1, 2017. No additional scholarship application is necessary.
 

KENT STATE STARK FRESHMAN SCHOLARSHIPS

Academic Accomplishment Award Minimum 3.4 high school GPA, minimum ACT compositeof 23, full-time enrollment. Full tuition or partial award. Renewable for second year. March 1
Minority Scholar Award Member of an underrepresented student population in higher education: African American, Hispanic or American Indian, minimum 3.0 high school GPA, full-time enrollment. Full tuition or partial award. Renewable for second year. March 1
College Credit Plus Award Participant in Kent State Stark's College Credit Plus program during senior year, minimum 3.0 Kent State GPA, minimum six hours completed at Kent State Stark as a CCP student, full-time enrollment. Full tuition or partial award. Renewable for second year. March 1
Honors Program Scholarship Accepted into the Kent State Stark Honors Program by March 1, minimum 3.5 high school GPA, minimum ACT composite of 27, full-time enrollment. View scholarship details here. Full tuition or partial award. Renewable for second year. March 1

Kent State Stark Alumni Scholarship

Up to $1,000 per year is available to first year legacies of Kent State Stark alumnus (parent or guardian who attended Kent State Stark at least one semester).

  • Must be an undergraduate
  • Minimum 3.0 high school GPA
  • Full-time enrollment at Kent State Stark
  • Essay (listed in scholarship application)
  • Deadline to apply is March 1
  • Apply using the online Current Student Scholarship Application

Charity Rotch Scholarship
Up to $500 per year is available to first year students.

  • Minimum 3.0 high school GPA
  • Nursing, education or health-related major
  • Age 21 or younger
  • Full-time enrollment at Kent State Stark
  • Resident of western Stark County (ex. Massillon, Navarre, Perry, Canal Fulton, Brewster, Jackson Township, locations west of I-77)
  • 2017-18 FAFSA filed and EFC received
  • Essay (listed in scholarship application)
  • Deadline to apply is March 1

Choose Ohio First STEMM Scholarships
Scholarships are available up to $4,200 per year for first year students interested in majoring in STEM fields (Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, Mathematics). View scholarship criteria.


Kent State Stark Music Scholarship
Scholarships are available to new first year music majors.


Charles and Judy Scheurer Endowed Scholarship
$500 per year is available to Stark County high school graduates.


City of Canton Scholarship Program
$1,000 per year is available to first year students.

  • Reside within Canton City limits
  • Attend a public high school
  • Minimum 3.0 high school GPA
  • Minimum ACT composite of 22
  • Full-time enrollment at Kent State Stark
  • 2017-18 FAFSA filed and EFC received
  • Letter of recommendation from the City of Canton Civil Service Office
  • Deadline to apply is March 1
