The Kent State Stark Welcome Team is a dynamic group of student leaders dedicated to making the transition to college a smooth one.

They regularly participate in the planning and facilitation of all first year programs. Welcome Team members participate in First Step, Summer Service Projects, Smart Start Saturday, the Success Series, and help out with the DKS: FYE course. Students meet on a monthly basis to share ideas and help manage events/projects. If you see them around campus, be sure to say hello!

If you are interested in being involved with this program, contact Kristi Yerian at kyerian1@kent.edu or 330-244-3278.

Right off the bat, I am a very creative person. I have always enjoyed the arts, whether it be performing on stage or designing on the computer; I love it all. Taking pictures and singing tend to be my favorite things to do in my free time, aside from hanging out with friends and family. I currently work as a Campus Ambassador and a student employee for the Office of Student Services while also being on the Welcome Team. When it comes to school I like to challenge myself and be involved, so I am also in the Honors Program and the Theatre Department here at Kent State Stark. If you ever have any questions about school, relationships, or life in general, don’t be afraid to walk up to me. Although I may be small, I’m fun-size so I won’t bite.

My goal is to become a middle school teacher. I'm involved in the Honors Program as well. If I'm not on campus, I'm more than likely working at one of my many jobs. I graduated from Jackson High School in 2014. I usually stay busy with school and work, but in my free time I love to spend time with my family and friends.

I have been a part of the Welcome Team since I started classes here in Fall of 2014. I have always had a sense of pride when I help those around campus. Along with being a part of the Welcome Team, I am the Vice President of S.C.R.U.B.S., the nursing organization on campus, a Complaint Committee member, and hold a position at the campus's Recreation and Wellness Center. I am also the leader of a student group called Ready. Set. Serve, which strives to integrate community service initiatives in the campus. In my limited free time, I enjoy playing soccer, photographing landscapes and nature, and catching up on sleep. Please don't hesitate to ask questions, we're all here to help!

Aside from being on the Welcome Team, I’m a manager at Hibbetts Sports. Occasionally, I help with a 14U girls softball team. I am also a member of the Honors Program.

During my free time I enjoy spending time with family friends. I love to sing and dance. Besides working in Student Services as a student employee, I am activity involved on the Welcome Team. In May I will be going from a Frohnapfel to a Richards! Although life can get crazy busy I always remind myself to live life to the fullest! As Ferris Buller said, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around every once in a while you could miss it."

I am so excited to be a part of the Welcome Team here at Kent State Stark. I love meeting new people! Helping students have the best first year of college possible is a huge privilege! When I’m not busy with work, class or homework I am probably playing basketball or a video game. If you see me around campus, feel free to say hey or ask anything you may have on your mind. I look forward to meeting you!

I am a creative person. I am always drawing or writing and I spend most of my free time with family. I am inquisitive and love to learn new things and figure out how things function. I’m very excited to be joining The Welcome Team. I believe it will provide me with the opportunity to build both skills and relationships.

Since I was young I have always known two things, I want to be a teacher and I want to attend Kent State University. I currently am enrolled in the middle childhood education program with focuses in science and social studies. I loved to be involved in school and in my community. When I am not on campus, I am at home or active participating in Fine Arts events. I enjoy music, theater, and dance, which I’ve done since I was in fifth grade. I graduated from Manchester High School in 2016 and have a younger sister who is currently attending MHS. I currently assist with the choreography for my high school’s drama department, which I have done since my sophomore year. After graduating from college, I plan to become a middle school teacher and be an active member in my school district’s theater department.
