About Community-Based Learning and Volunteerism at Kent State University
Kent State University recognizes a continuum of service engagement including volunteering, community service, community-based learning (volunteering with learning objectives), academic service-learning (course based), to community development.
Kent State University engages students in their communities in a wide variety of ways - through student service organizations, university service programs, service-learning classes, and interactions with our community partners. In 2011-2012, 8,705 KSU students contributed more than 150,700 hours of service and $3,219,486 to communities through volunteer service programs.Kent State University's experiential learning and community service events and programs are open to KSU students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.
