Student Life

You'll never have a problem finding something to do at Kent State. Be a leader in student government. Shoot a news story for Black Squirrel Radio or TV-2. Play broomball with your friends at the Ice Arena. Or take in one of the many arts and sporting events. Your life at Kent State is full of possibility.

Kent State boasts more than 200 student organizations, Greek communities, student media and an abundance of service options.

All of this opportunity happens on a campus that feels more like a park than a college, with plenty of green space, trees and black squirrels. The furry creatures have been a staple of campus life since the early 1960s. Each fall, the community honors them at the Black Squirrel Festival.

In the great outdoors, you're likely to find a game of Frisbee or catch being played. During winter, students break out their sleds and head down parts of the campus's hilly terrain.

There's indoor recreation, too. The Rec Center has basketball courts, pools, a climbing wall and all the things you would expect to find at a gym. The Ice Arena offers recreational skating, hockey and broomball leagues.

Getting here is easy. You can get to Kent State via the Ohio and Pennsylvania turnpikes and other major highways. When here, you're minutes away from Cleveland, Akron and Canton, and their diverse offerings of world-class dining, museums and professional sports.
