Course Loads
9-11 credit hours: three-quarter time
6-8 credit hours: half-time
1-5 credit hours: less than half-time
Students who have been reinstated in the School of Technology may take a maximum of 12 hours their first semester back.
Students who are on probation may take a maximum of 15 hours in a semester until they are off probation.
Students wanting to take between 19 and 21 hours for fall/spring or 13 and 15 hours in summer must petition for permission from the School of Technology. Students must fill out the "Request for Course Overload" form. This form is available on our website at www.tech.kent.edu/Pages/Forms.asp or in the Student Services Office. Completed forms should be returned to the Student Services Office.
Students who have the required grade point average for the credit overload (as listed on the Request for Course Overload) are automatically approved and will be notified by email when they are eligible to register for additional hours on Web for Students. Students who do not have the required grade point average must explain how they will succeed with a course overload. Once processed, students will be notified of the decision by email. Processing time will be 1-2 days from the time the form reaches the Student Services Office.
