Freshman Forgiveness
FRESHMAN FORGIVENESS PRIOR TO FALL 2005
If you are a student that started prior to Fall 2005, you may retake a course for freshman forgiveness if you have earned a D or F in a course before you have completed 30 credit hours. This includes students who took two semesters of courses, earned 29 hours, and then earned a D in their third semester. Those students are still eligible for freshman forgiveness because they earned that D while they were still a freshman. You must retake the course(s) prior to earning 60 credit hours.
POLICY CHANGES - EFFECTIVE FALL 2005
The new policy is for students who started in Fall 2005 or after.
Grades eligible for recalculation under this policy will now include C-,D+, D, F, NF, SF, U
Eligibility for the rule will be based on ATTEMPTED hours rather than COMPLETED hours.
Courses eligible for repeat must be taken within the first 30 ATTEMPTED hours at any college or university.

Students will receive e-mail notification to give opportunity to "opt-out" if for any reason they do not want the recalculation applied to a particular course.
More about Freshman Forgiveness:
* All grades will appear on the students's official transcripts.
*Only the grade received for the repeat of the course will be used in the calculation of the cumulative grade point average. (for example, if you are repeating a course in which you earned a C- in the first time around, and earn a D the second time, the D will be the one factored into your GPA).
*Recalculation of the students' cumulative grade point average will occur automatically at the end of the semester in which students complete the repeated course.
