Transfer Students
Transfer students must earn at least 30 credit hours at Kent State University to earn their degree.
Transfer Credit Evaluations
Students with transfer credits receive a "transfer credit evaluation" from the admissions office. Kent State University only accepts courses in which the student as earned a C or higher. If students do not receive a transfer credit evaluation in the mail, they can request one from the admissions office.
A course can transfer to Kent State University one of four ways:
- an exact Kent State University course
- in a Kent State University LER category
- in a general department without an exact equivalent course (TECH 1x001)
- as general credit without a department or equivalent course (KAPS 1x003 or TRAN CRSE)
Regardless of how the courses transfer in, the College of Technology can make appropriate course substitutions if needed. For more information, please see an advisor in the Student Services Office.
Credits from Non-accredited Universities
The College of Technology does accept technical courses from non-accredited universities. Students on the Kent Campus must bring a copy of a transcript to the Student Services Office and request an evaluation of credits. Students at the regional campuses must send an original transcript to the Student Services Office. After evaluation from the College of Technology, the forms will go to admissions with the transcript. Students should allow for 2-3 weeks for the transfer credit to be posted.
