Master Control

Master Control is the technical hub of the television facilities at Kent State University. It houses the edit suites used by the production staff and the faculty edit suite. It handles duplication of DVDs, CDs, VHS, and conversions of many other formats, as well as interconnects with eTech Ohio and Western Reserve Public Media Channels 45 & 49.

Master Control also houses two downlink satellite dishes and fiber optic connections to send video directly to the Kent State Student Center. In addition, we have a mobile unit that can be used almost anywhere on campus. Master Control has the playback and record controls for the fully equipped television studio located in the Music & Speech Center. It also serves as the head end for all the cable channels that originate on campus as well as Time Warner channel 16, which is used by TV2.

Services Provided Through Master Control Include:

  • Duplication Services (including CD/DVD, VHS, and many others)
  • Faculty Edit Suite
