MAC Chooses TeleProductions
The Mid-American Conference (MAC) has chosen TeleProductions at Kent State University to handle instant replays for the second year in a row. Every college Division 1 game is required to have 5 different camera angles of instant replay available for the officials to review plays, because one call can make a difference in the score of a game.
"We got this contract because we have a good working relationship with the MAC from past projects," said Jeff Bentley, executive producer of the Kent State Sports Network.
TeleProductions will be in charge of the instant replays for all Kent State home games at Dix Stadium and also a Northern Illinois game. If there's a tough call on the field, the officials will be able to call out to the crew and ask for a replay. They can look at the different angles in order to make the right call.
"Instant replays are important. Looking at the play a second time can change the outcome of a game," Bentley said.
TeleProductions students and staff will be using the satellite uplink/production truck to produce the instant replay packages. The truck's features allow for clear, easy access to the instant replays whenever the officials need them.
"It's a unique experience. You really get into every game when you look at the details closely," Bentley said.
