John de Lancie

A 1971 graduate of Kent State University, John de Lancie is an accomplished actor, producer and voice artist best known for his portrayal of the character Q in several Star Trek franchises, most notably Star Trek: The Next Generation

de Lancie's career includes appearance in films such as  The Fisher King, Multiplicity, and Reign Over Me. In addition to Star Trek, de Lancie has appeared on television in Days of Our Lives, The Thorn Birds, The Six Million Dollar Man, Emergency!, Stargate SG-1, Breaking Bad, The West Wing, Sports Night, Judging Amy, Charmed, Torchwood, The Mentalist, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He has voiced multiple characters on television and in video games, and currently voices Discord in the animated series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

In addition to his film, television and voice credits, de Lancie has been a member of The American Shakespeare Festival, The Seattle Repertory Company, The South Coast Repertory, and the Old Globe. He is a frequent collaborator with L.A. Theater Works and also regularly directs operas. Recently, de Lancie appeared in the Cleveland Play House's production of "Mr. Wolf."

An accomplished musician, de Lancie has performed with numerous orchestras throughout North America and hosted the L.A. Philharmonic "Symphonies for Youth" for four years. He has written and directed several Symphonic Plays which are fully staged productions with orchestra, including titles include “Romeo and Juliet”, “Bourgeois Gentleman”,  and “The Abduction from the Seraglio.” 

He was co-owner of Alien Voices with Leonard Nimoy, a production company devoted to producing radio-style dramatizations of classic science fiction.
