Coach Kelly Ricklic

 

Kelly M. Ricklic, of New Philadelphia, is the baseball coach for Kent State University at Tuscarawas. He has more than 40 years of coaching experience in Tuscarawas County and in the New Philadelphia and Tuscarawas Central Catholic school systems. He received the Jim Baxter Community Service Award in 2015 in honor of his service to the Tuscarawas County Class A Baseball league.

In addition to his coaching career, Ricklic is employed by Buckeye Career Center as a maintenance supervisor and serves as a council member for the City of New Philadelphia.

Ricklic’s successful coaching career includes PeeWee, Minor League, Major League and Pony League baseball in New Philadelphia from 1977 to 2014. He guided the Tri-County Baseball League for several years and Tuscarawas Central Catholic High school and a team in the Tuscarawas County Class League as well. He has also served as a board member of the New Philadelphia Baseball Association, was a Pony League Tournament State Field Director, coached numerous All-Star teams in the city’s minor, major and pony leagues, while also coaching junior miss softball as well as the New Philadelphia High School girls softball team for seven seasons. His playing experience includes being a starting catcher for Kent State Tuscarawas where he earned an associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology in 1993.
