Spring 2013 Student Workers

	Megan Tomkins, Senior Public Relations Major Megan Tomkins is a senior public relations major with a marketing minor from North Canton, Ohio, and the co-assistant at Flash Communications. She has been a public affairs specialist in the Air Force Reserve for four years, where she specializes in journalism, photography, community, media and crisis communications and social media management. As the student government reporter for the Daily Kent Stater, she wrote articles about Undergraduate Student Government and the Kent State College Republicans and Democrats. While at Flash Communications, Megan plans to learn the key aspects of civilian public relations and wants to build her portfolio to obtain an internship next summer. After graduation, she hopes to work for the Defense Media Activity and eventually teach at the Defense Information School, which are both U.S. Department of Defense organizations.
	Taylor Titus, Senior Public Relations Major Taylor Titus is a senior public relations major and marketing minor from Annapolis, Maryland. She works as the co-assistant to the coordinator Luke Armour. Taylor is the Vice President of Professional Relations for Kent State's PRSSA chapter. She served as a public relations intern at Chic Communications last summer. While at Flash Communications, Taylor hopes to improve her writing skills and and build her portfolio. After graduation in May 2013, she hopes to pursue a career in fashion PR.
	Megan Confer, Senior Public Relations Major Megan Confer is a senior public relations major with a minor in marketing from Rochester, NY. She is a member of Kent State’s PRSSA chapter and, as a beat reporter, she covered Kent State’s performing arts. Megan was the Paramount Pictures intern at Allied THA in Cleveland for the summer of 2012. She hopes to strengthen her writing skills and improve her portfolio during her time at Flash. After graduation in May 2013, Megan would like pursue a career in agency public relations.
	Danielle DeBord, Junior Public Relations Major Danielle DeBord is a junior public relations major from Canton, Ohio. Serving as the Fashion Beat Reporter for the Daily Kent Stater, she covered the Fashion School and fashion organizations on campus. She was the VP of Public & Alumni Relations for the Panhellenic Council and the Director of Public Relations for the Delta Gamma Fraternity. She is hoping to build a portfolio and obtain a summer internship while working at Flash. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in entertainment or fashion PR.
	Mady Etzel, Senior Public Relations Major Mady Etzel is a senior public relations major from Erie, Pennsylvania. She is on the executive board for Kent's PRSSA chapter and the Public Relations VP for Alpha Xi Delta. She wrote for the Summer Kent Stater about the Career Services Center and the Alumni Association. She is hoping to build her portfolio and prepare for a summer internship. After graduation in August 2013 she hopes to pursue a career in agency public relations.
	Aubrey Johnson, Senior Public Relations Major Aubrey Johnson is a senior public relations major from Jamestown, NY. She enjoys motivating people to live healthy lifestyles and maintains a blog called Healthy Bliss about nutrition, fitness and happiness. She wrote for the Daily Kent Stater as a beat reporter and covered Air Force and Army ROTC, Greek Life and Alumni Affairs. Aubrey is hoping to build her portfolio with the experience she gains while working at Flash Communications.
	Shannen Laur, Junior Public Relations Major Shannen Laur is a junior public relations major from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has experience writing for the Daily Kent Stater as the beat reporter for the College of Communications and Information, as well as a feature section correspondent. While working at Flash, she hopes to sharpen her writing, reporting and social media skills. Shannen hopes to pursue a career in a public relations agency or event planning.
	Monique Zappa, Senior Broadcast Journalism Major Monique Zappa is a senior broadcast journalism major with a minor in public relations from Amherst, Ohio. She is a TV2 veteran who has worked in nearly every part of the station. She is currently TV2’s marketing director, but plans to pursue a producing career. She also interned with WKBN in Youngstown and WKYC’s Live on Lakeside in Cleveland. During her time at Flash Communications, she hopes to improve her communication and writing skills.
