The strategy of the Electrical shop within the department of University Facilities Management is to provide students, faculty and staff with a well illuminated and safe campus as well as maintaining the electrical systems serving academic, residence service and auxiliary buildings. Our continuing goal is to perform excellent electrical service to the university community in a timely, courteous and efficient manner.
Our services include the following:
Installation of new equipment/devices/circuits
Provide and enforce electrical safety programs per OSHA standards
Develop and perform programs for preventive maintenance of electrical equipment (transformer oil testing, annual switchgear testing, etc)
Perform Predictive Maintenance on electrical equipment by using infrared imaging
Replace/Repair lighting on sidewalks, parking lots and athletic fields
Provide electrical support for athletic and special events
Perform medium voltage switching on the campus' electrical distribution system
Perform corrective electrical maintenance on HVAC equipment, motors control and other building equipment
Design and install new lighting systems to reduce energy consumption
Mobilize university owned portable generators for power generation during emergency situations or electrical shutdowns.
