UFM Services

University Facilities Management provides the following services to the university:

  • Grounds
The Grounds crews at the Kent Campus maintain five formal gardens, over 950 acres of land, and plant over 5,000 annuals each spring. We take immense pride in the beautification of our campus and realize the importance of a clean, healthy, and safe environment.
  • Structures
The Structures crews are comprised of carpenters, painters, glaziers, masons and locksmiths. We are tasked with the maintenance of interior and exterior structures throughout the Kent Campus.
  • Custodial
Normal responsibilities include trash and recycling removal, carpet and hard surface floor care, chalkboard and whiteboard cleaning, restroom cleaning and sanitation. Our crews also maintain product stock in restrooms, provide general dusting, sanitize water fountains, provide door, glass and mirror cleaning, and reset classroom furniture.
  • Electrical & Mechanical Trades
The electric department provides students, faculty and staff with a well illuminated and safe campus. We are responsible for maintaining and servicing the main electrical distribution systems serving all academic, residence service and auxiliary buildings.
  • Preventative Maintenance
The All Campus Preventative Maintenance (ACPM) department provides preventative maintenance on building equipment in both academic buildings and residence halls. We are available on a 24/7 basis, and are dispatched to handle any maintenance requests or emergencies after hours, on holidays and weekends.
  • Moving and Delivery
The Receiving and Distribution team provides assistance with a variety of moving and delivery services. Our services include relocation of offices and departments, pick up and delivery of surplus furniture and equipment and residence hall furniture inventory and redistribution.
  • Business and Supply
Business and Supply is accountable for all aspects of the budget, inventory control, and purchasing. We also manage the accounting and billing procedures for University Facilities Management.
