Congratulations to Douglas Antibus, 2007 Portz Scholar
Douglas Antibus, a May 2007 graduate of the KSU Honors College was named a 2007 Portz Scholar. The Portz Scholars Program of the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) was developed to honor and reward the best undergraduate and scholarly papers in any discipline. Three Portz Scholars are selected each year. Doug’s thesis, Microbial Degradation of Natural Dissolved Organic Matter in a Great Lakes Coastal Wetland (Old Woman Creek) was directed by Professor Robert Heath in Biological Sciences. Doug is continuing his research now as a KSU graduate student. Other Honors College thesis writers who have been named Portz Scholars: Jessica Anderson Maisano in 1995 for her thesis in geology, later completing her doctorate with honors at Yale; Erin Osborne Martin in 2001 for her thesis in classics and archaeology, later completing her master’s at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland; Laura Herron in 2005 for her thesis in history, later earning her master’s in History from Kent State in May 2007; she is currently a Distinguished University Fellow at Ohio State University |
