KSU OAKS-CI Projects

Ohio Administrative Knowledge System's Capital Improvements. What is OAKS CI?

OAKS stands for "Ohio Administrative Knowledge System". OAKS is a statewide, Web-based system that replaced the state's former accounting system, human resources system, procurement system and fixed asset system, as well as the capital improvements system, via the interface with OAKS (CI). CI stands for "Capital Improvements".

OAKS CI is a Web-based project management system that is available to all state agencies and state supported colleges and universities, including Kent State University, as well as the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC).

Utilizing the construction management software, Skire Unifer, OAKS CI houses all of the data on each construction project, providing for members of each project team access to drawings, meeting minutes, requests for information and change orders, as well as contract documents, payment requests, and EDGE information. Documents process through the system for approval via electronic workflow, which allows the members of the project team to track the status of each document. Skire Unifier automates business processes (BPs), manages flow of information in projects, provides real-time visibility to data, and serves as a common filing cabinet for each project. Skire Unifer is software designed to capture real-time project data, track status of funds, provide standardized reports, track business process record flow and status, store project documents, and manage project-related e-mail (via uMail).

Access to OAKS CI is provided solely to facilitate participation in specific State sponsored capital improvement projects. The Ohio Department of Administrative Services has the right to deny or restrict OAKS CI access at its discretion. Kent State University Office of the University Architect Project Managers will make arrangements for OAKS CI access with companies directly involved with assigned Kent State improvement projects. Contact Kent State University Office of the University Architect by calling 330-672-3880 for information about free OAKS CI training workshops offered at the Kent Campus.

Use of OAKS CI is governed by various laws and policies including, but not limited to, the DAS Information Technology Resource Usage Policy (700-01) and the State of Ohio IT Policy. Failure to abide by current State laws or policies may result in loss of OAKS CI access.
