Monday, April 24
On Sunday evening Career Exploration and Development hosted the first annual Kent State College Suit Up event with JCPenney at the Chapel Hill Mall location. More than 380 students, faculty, staff, and parents/families walked through the door to shop and saved an estimated $6,000 while participating at this event.

Monday, April 17
University College would like to welcome Andy Whyte to the Exploratory Advising Center (EAC). Andy will be serving as an Academic Advisor I for EAC.

University College would like to celebrate another round of successful Alternative Spring Break experiences coordinated by the Office Experiential Education and Civic Engagement. This year we had Kent State University groups in Washington, DC; Buffalo, N.Y.; Detroit, Mich.; New Orleans, La.; Youngstown, Ohio; New York, N.Y.; and Baltimore, Md.

Congratulations to Nancy Young on her recent promotion to Administrative Assistant. In addition to her responsibilities in Career Exploration and Development she will also be sharing time with Academic Engagement and Degree Completion supporting their administrative needs as well.

Congratulations to Julie Novotny, Craig Wilkinson and the entire Career Exploration and Development staff for their success welcoming 53 districts and more than 200 students to the 2017 Teacher Employment Day. Teacher Employment Day brings together school districts and graduating education majors for on-the-spot networking and employment interviews.

Tuesday, April 4
Several members of our UC community participation in and successful completion of MBTI Certification training. This intensive, four-day, workshop will allow for 11 new facilitators to serve the FYE debrief sessions, as well as bring richer conversations around type and development to our students.

We are pleased to welcome Barbara Johnson to University College. Barbara newly serves as clerical specialist or student support services and academic diversity outreach.

Tuesday, March 14th
Cory Boveington joined the University College Technology Support Team as an Associate Applications Developer. He will be serving as Lead Applications Developer specializing in testing and user interface automation.

Friday, February 24
Congratulations to the Career Exploration and Development team for pulling off another successful Internship, Co-Op and Career Fair. New records were set this semester with 191 employers participating and more than 1300 students in attendance.

Tuesday, February 14
Congratulations to Deanna Donaugh on being appointed, Advising Adult Learners Commission Chair with NACADA. Over the past three years Deanna has been setting the model for best practice with our Degree Completion program within Academic Engagement and Degree Completion.

Congratulations to the University College’s staff who volunteered for the Game of Life event on Wednesday, January 25th. A special thank you to Cason Brunt and Mary Rudolph for leading and coordinating efforts for this event.

Tuesday, January 17
Congratulations to the Office of Experiential Education and Civic Engagement for their great work in coordinating a series of events to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The event was attended by more than 180 volunteers at 9 different service sites all totalling 543 hours of service.

Friday, January 6
University College welcomes Academic Diversity Outreach staff members Elisha Swanson and Emily McClaine. Elisha will serve as the Assistant Director and bring significant experience working with TRIO Programs and diversity initiatives. Emily will serve as the Program Coordinator for Academic Diversity Outreach, McNair Scholars Program and ERLI Faculty Connections programs.
