W. S. Merwin to Appear in Fall Reading Series

The Wick Poetry Center is pleased to announce its fall Reading Series, starting September 14 with the annual Celebrating Our Own reading, which features Wick undergraduate and high school scholarship winners.
U.S. Poet Laureate W. S. Merwin will also take part in the series, reading October 10 in the Kent State Student Center. Merwin is the author of dozens of books of poetry and prose, including his most recent book of poems, Shadow of Sirius, awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 2009.
The final event of the fall Reading Series will feature Maggie Anderson, judge of the 2010 Stan and Tom Wick Poetry Prize, and prize winner Mira Rosenthal. Anderson is professor emerita at Kent State University where she was the founder and director of the Wick Poetry Center and editor of the Wick Poetry Series of the Kent State University Press from 1992–2010. Rosenthalis the winner of the 2010 Stan and Tom Wick Poetry Prize for her book The Local World. She is also the author of two volumes of poetry translations.
