2011 Stan and Tom Wick Poetry Prize Awarded to Carolyn Creedon for Wet

Carolyn Creedon, 2011 Stan and Tom Wick Poetry Prize WinnerThe Wick Poetry Center is pleased to announce that Carolyn Creedon is the 2011 winner of the Stan and Tom Wick Poetry Prize, judged by Edward Hirsch. The prize awards Creedon with $2,000 and publication of her manuscript, Wet, by the Kent State University Press. Creedon will take part in the Wick Reading Series next year with Hirsch.

Carolyn Creedon is a writer, editor, and fifteen-year veteran of the waitress wars. She completed the Ada Comstock program at Smith College and then went on to earn an MA. She earned an MFA at the University of Virginia, where she received the Academy of American Poets Prize. Her poems have been published in the Massachusetts Review, American Poetry Review, Ploughshares, Yale Review, Rattle, and other journals. Her work has also been featured in the Best New Poets and Best of the Best American Poets. Creedon lives in Charlottesville with her husband and dog.
