Attendance Policy

The Writing Commons is typically a busy place, and tries to help as many students as possible.   Each student is allowed one Late Cancellation and/or No-Show. Once a writer receives two Late Cancellations and/or No-Shows, that writer will be restricted from scheduling any new appointments. The writer may still work with a tutor on a walk-in basis, and may keep any previously scheduled appointments.

Late Cancellations

A "Late Cancellation" is a cancellation within 24 hours of a scheduled session.

No-Shows

A "No-Show" is a failure to arrive for a scheduled session. When a writer has not arrived for an appointment ten minutes into the session, he or she is marked as a No Show for that session, and forfeits the appointment to any student waiting for a walk-in session.
