Pre-Pharmacy & Pre-Medicine Programs

Pre-pharmacy and Pre-medicine study may be completed at Kent State University by taking basic academic courses through the College of Arts and Sciences.

Students are required to complete a primary major. Students often choose to complete the primary major in Chemistry or Biological Sciences.

Pre-Pharmacy Program for NEOMED

The Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown is home to the College of Pharmacy, in addition to the College of Medicine. The College offers a four-year Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) degree. It has a consortial relationship with four Northeastern Ohio public universities: Kent State, Cleveland State, Youngstown State, and Akron Universities. Admissions criteria include completion of a two- or three-year pre-pharmacy program at an accredited university as well as satisfactory scores on the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT). Each of the consortial universities has up to 15 admissions slots for students with acceptable GPAs, PCAT scores, interview scores, etc. For further information, go to the NEOMED website or contact Dr. Diane Stroup (dstroup1@kent.edu).
