Kent, Ohio – The Kent State University Orchestra continues its 2016-2017 season with a concert on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the University Auditorium at Cartwright Hall. Cartwright Hall is located at 650 Hilltop Drive on the Kent State University Kent campus. Free parking.
Conducted by graduate student Alex Popovici, the Kent State University Orchestra, joined by Notheast Ohio-based band Scarlet and the Harlots, will present a thrilling collaboration for its frouth subscription series concert. Together, they will perform some of the most popular songs of the lasts several decades including “Space Oddity” by David Bowie, “Jolene” by Dolly Parton, “Killer Queen” by Queen, “Darling Nikki” by Prince, “Gimmie All Your Love” by Alabama Shakes, “Army Of Me” by Bjork, “Great Gig In The Sky” by Pink Floyd, “Paranoid Android” by Radiohead and two original songs by Scarlet & the Harlots.
Formed in 2011 in Kent, Sclarlet and the Harlots is a Blues Rock band with its members hailing from Cleveland to Akron. Composed of graduates from Kent State University and The University of Akron, their aim is to get to the core of Blues Rock and top it off with rhythmically strong, vibrant colors. Two guitars, bass and drums provide the foundation for powerful vocals with color provided by the horn section. With its high energy and no-holds-barred sound, the band recently released its first self-titled album at Buzzbin Art and Music Shop.
Tickets for the performance are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and Kent State University faculty and staff, $10 for groups of 10 or more patrons, $8 for non Kent State students who are not eligible for the Fee for Free and free for full-time Kent Campus undergraduate students. Also, thanks to a generous donation from a long-time supporter and patron of the Hugh A. Glauser School of Music, anyone 18 and under can attend the concerts for free, although a ticket must be reserved.
Tickets are available weekdays 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Performing Arts Box Office, located in the lobby of the Roe Green Center in the Center for the Performing Arts at 1325 Theatre Drive on the campus of Kent State University. The Performing Arts Box Office accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover, in addition to cash and checks.
The Cartwright Hall Box Office will open one hour prior to the performance for walk up sales, however, we encourage patrons to purchase tickets in advance to avoid long lines.
