The RUN THE WORLD project began in 2015 as a single 5K scholarship fundraiser, with a simple mission: raise money for education abroad scholarships for Kent State students, regardless of their major.

In just two short years, the Run The World project has grown tremendously with over 500 participants for the Run The World 5K in 2016 and the addition of two more races at the Stark Campus and Kent State’s Florence Center in Italy. The Run The World Fund has been able to award over $42,000 in scholarships for students to study abroad.

On Saturday, September 8, 2018, the 4th annual Run the World 5K will take place on Kent Campus. This will be the second year for the Run The World Race Series, which includes our races at both the Kent and Stark campuses. Students who register for the Race Series will be eligible for a $2,500 scholarship, in addition to the $1,000 scholarships they may receive from either the Kent or Stark races.  This means that they could potentially win up to $4,500 in scholarships through participation in the Race Series.  The collaboration between the colleges, regional campus, and the Office of Global Education makes this project successful all in the name of education abroad and the students and Kent State University.
