Announcement: Sept. 23, 2020

Dear Colleagues: 

I am pleased to announce that our search committee has identified three outstanding candidates for Dean and Chief Administrative Officer of Kent State University Trumbull Campus. As part of the interview process, each candidate will hold a public presentation. After providing a brief introductory background, the candidates will discuss the following:

  • Challenges facing higher education today and examples of how the candidate has faced these challenges in his or her current or previous positions,
  • Strategies to face these challenges at Kent State Trumbull Campus, and
  • Experience/examples of their interactions with the broader community in her or his current and/or previous positions.

The candidates may also discuss how they anticipate approaching the role of Dean and Chief Chief Administrative Officer of Kent State Trumbull Campus. Following the candidates' presentations, we will invite questions from you.

I invite and encourage you to attend the following public presentations and provide your input through the surveys below. For the safety of our candidates and the Kent State Community, all interview activities will be conducted remotely.

I am pleased to announce that we have launched a search for Dean and Chief Administrative Officer of Kent State University at Trumbull. The dean serves as chief academic and administrative officer, providing overall leadership and direction, with responsibility for all aspects of campus administration and operations. This includes campus outreach activities, financial management, academic and administrative policies and procedures, academic and non-academic programs, and physical plant operations and maintenance.

The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution, as well as eight years of experience in program development, marketing, budget, personnel; experience as a faculty member; and an academic record sufficient to qualify for faculty appointment at senior rank. The position will begin January 2021.

Trumbull Dean Job Description

This position serves as chief academic and administrative officer of the Trumbull Campus; and provides overall leadership and direction as well as assumes responsibility for all aspects of campus administration and operation. A full job description can be found here.

Position Specifications

The minimum specifications to be considered as a candidate are:

  • A terminal degree in a relevant field;
  • Eight years of progressively responsible experience in program development, marketing, budget, and personnel management;
  • Experience as a faculty member;
  • An academic record sufficient to qualify for a faculty appointment at senior rank at Kent State University.

The preferred candidate would also have:

  • Experience with regional systems
  • A commitment to community engagement
  • A demonstrated advocacy for diversity
  • Long-term vision, with a proven record of successful implementation
