Next Steps for Admitted Students

  1. Log in to FlashLine and follow the instructions for a first-time user. Once logged in, you can review your enrollment checklist. Details about logging in are below.
  2. Review your new freshman priority dates for financial aid, on-campus housing and Destination Kent State (DKS) new student orientation program. Details about priority dates are below.
  3. If you haven't done so already, schedule a campus visit.
  4. Pay the $150 enrollment fee to reserve your place in the freshman class. Details about the enrollment fee are below.
  5. Apply for financial aid and complete your scholarship search. Visit the financial aid website for more information.
  6. Apply for on-campus housing on the residence services website or submit the mandatory housing exemption form.
  7. Schedule your Destination Kent State (DKS) orientation visit.
  8. Submit your final high school transcript, AP/IB scores and college transcripts for any college courses completed during high school.
  9. Review class scheduling timelines and tuition payment options on the One Stop website.
  10. For parking information, visit the parking services website.
  11. Move in and attend KSU Kickoff activities! See the student success website for details.

FlashLine is Kent State’s secure online portal and is the gateway to world-class Intranet services. To log in for the first time, go to login.kent.edu, click on "Start here" after "First-time user?".

Enter your username. This is the first part of your email address (ex. "janedoe@kent.edu" is "janedoe"). Refer to your admission letter for your Kent State email address and your username.

New students are given a temporary password when their account is created. Enter your temporary password.

The format of the password is: mmmyyxxxxx where:
mmm = first three letters of the birth month
yy = last two digits of the birth year
xxxxx = last five digits of the Kent State Identification Number (see admission letter).

Once you have successfully logged in with this temporary password, you will be prompted to select a new password. You are also asked to provide an alternate email address and to answer challenge questions that you can use to reset your password in case it is forgotten.

To pay the enrollment fee online, log in to FlashLine and click on the My Lists and the checkmark icon in the upper right-hand corner in FlashLine. Click on Pay Enrollment Fee and follow the payment instructions.

If you prefer, you may mail in a $150 check payable to Kent State University Admissions Office. Make sure you write your Kent State identification number in the memo line of the check to ensure that the payment is credited to the correct student account. Phone payments will not be accepted.

The enrollment fee is refundable until May 1. You can request a refund in writing to Enrollment Fee Refund, Admissions Office, Kent State University, P.O. Box 5190, Kent, OH, 44242-0001. No refunds of the enrollment fee will be made after May 1.


KSUview is an easy and safe way to share your student information such as financial aid, personal information (address, phone and email), registration (status and schedule) and your student account (detail, summary, tax notification and holds). If you would like to give your parents or guardian access to your information, complete these steps:

  • Log in to FlashLine and select Student in the left-hand column.
  • Under Student select Resources.
  • Under Resources select Requests and Authorizations.
  • The webpage will be displayed; double click on KSUview.
  • Choose Add Designee and fill in the fields for First Name, Last Name and Email Address for the person you’re giving access to; click Add Designee.
  • Click on Expand (designee name). In the Profile tab, complete the information requested for your designee. On the Authorization tab, select the items you’d like your designee to view online.

Begin the process by logging in to FlashLine below.

  • Log in to FlashLine and select Student in the left-hand column.
  • Under Student select Resources.
  • Under Resources select Requests and Authorizations.
  • The webpage will be displayed; double click on Preferred Name Request.

  3. Check your new Kent State email regularly for important updates and next step information.
  4. Register for Classes!
    1. Transfer Students: Attend Transfer Kent State (TKS). TKS is a required orientation where you will meet with an academic advisor and register for your fall classes. Sign up on the Transfer Kent State website.
    2. Post-Undergraduate students: Register for classes via the Student menu in FlashLine. Contact your academic advising office for advising and registration assistance.
    3. Guest Students: Register for classes via the Student menu in FlashLine. Contact the University College at 330-672-3676 if you need help.
  5. Apply for financial aid and complete your scholarship search. Visit the financial aid website for more information.
  6. Submit Your Final Transcripts. If you had in-progress coursework or have completed additional classes since your initial transcript was submitted, forward your final transcripts to the Admissions Office.
  7. Confirm your attendance by paying the $95 Transfer Enrollment Fee online through FlashLine.
  8. If you are looking to live on-campus, apply for on-campus housing on the residence services website. For information about off-campus housing, visit the Commuter and Off-Campus Student Organization (COSO) website.
  9. Move in and attend KSU Kickoff activities! See the student success website for details.
  10. Purchase a Parking Permit. Visit the parking services website for parking information.
  11. Get your Kent State ID, FLASHcard. Available at the FLASHcard Office, Room 026, Kent Student Center, lower level. The FLASHcard Office can also help you with on-campus dining plan information.

A Transfer Credit Evaluation is a report of how your credits transferred from your previous school(s) and is provided to all transfer students. You will receive an email notification in your @kent.edu email account once your Transfer Credit Evaluation is complete. To access your report, log in to your FlashLine account and follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Student category on the left, then expand the Resources section. Next, click on Advising and GPS.
  2. In the Advising and GPS section, click on GPS Audit and Plan. A new window will open.
  3. On the left side of the page, under the GPS Audits tab, click on What-If.
  4. Under the What-If blue bar, choose the following options in the corresponding drop-down boxes:
    1. Level: Undergraduate
    2. Degree: Transfer Articulation
    3. Catalog: your catalog year
  5. Above the What-If blue bar, click the Process What-If button.
  6. Your transfer evaluation will open.
  7. If you have trouble accessing your FlashLine account, call 330-672-HELP for assistance.
