47th Annual New Student Reception and Cookout
The 47th Annual New Student Reception and Cookout will be held, Tuesday, August 20, 2019, from 5 pm - 8 pm, on the green behind Oscar Ritchie Hall. There will be plenty of food, dancing, and music (featuring D. J. LoKey). Designed with new students in mind, there are opportunities for guests to meet and greet Department of Pan-African Studies (DPAS) faculty and staff. This event is made possible through the support of: College of Arts and Sciences, Office of Student Affairs; University College; Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Division of Human Resources; and Pepsi Co.
The Department of Pan-African Studies extends an invitation to students, faculty, staff, and the community to attend this annual event. Since 1972, the department has held this cookout to encourage new students to engage in activities and resources offered. It is also an opportunity for new and current students to get to know DPAS faculty and staff and have fun prior to the start of the semester. Student organizations will be present to share information about their respective organizations and how to participate in upcoming events and meetings.
Please note in the event there is rain, the cookout will be moved inside Oscar Ritchie Hall to room 250.
