Senegal Study Abroad
Senegal Land of Hospitality
Centered on the theme of Precolonial colonial, and contemporary experiences of Senegal, student will read several texts on the historical forces that have shaped the country. Students will visit important historical sites such as the Gorée Island, the Holy City of Touba, various locations in the capital city of Dakar, and interesting sites in the former French colonial city of Saint-Louis, all in Senegal. Along with meeting and socializing with families and listening to presentations about Senegal, students will have direct and rich experiences that will enhance their knowledge of African culture, history, and literature. A large part of the program will take place in Saint-Louis where Kent State University has cooperation with Université Gaston Berger.
