Artist Talk - Heather Lenz
The School of Art at Kent State University presents an artist talk with filmmaker, Heather Lenz. During the artist talk, Ms. Lenz will show a clip of her film, "Kusama – Infinity" and will talk about her experiences writing, directing and producing the documentary, which is about artist Yayoi Kusama. This event is free and open to all.
Ms. Lenz is an alumna of the School of Art with a B.A. in art history and fine arts. She later went on to get her M.F.A. in cinematic arts from the University of Southern California. The documentary was shown at the Sundance Film Festival and the Cleveland International Film Festival this past spring. "Kusama – Infinity" was picked up by Magnolia Pictures after its premiere Sundance and will be released in September with local showings at the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Wexner Center and the Akron Art Museum.
The film is running concurrently with Ms. Kusama’s retrospective traveling exhibition at the Cleveland Museum of Art, "Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors." Ms. Lenz spent more than a decade working on the film, which included traveling to Japan to meet the artist, who still works in her studio almost every day of the week.
