ARTshop Mother's Day Event
The School of Art at Kent State University is happy to announce the opening of the student-run retail shop, ARTshop. The ARTshop is open to the public on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:00-6:00 p.m. The shop provides a means for students and student groups to sell their artwork to the public.
"The ARTshop on campus allows students to work on entrepreneurial and marketing skills by selling their own artwork and interacting with customers. It's important to for students to show their work to others outside of the art community," said undergraduate, Kayla Ewanko.
Located in room 257 at the Center for the Visual Arts, patrons can browse and purchase student-made works in glass, ceramics, jewelry/metals/enameling, textiles and print. The students are also planning a special Mother’s Day event on May 3, 2017 from 12:00-6:00 p.m. with a wide selection of gifts available. Students will be creating special pieces for the event and will have a large selection of gift items available in the shop itself as well as in the breezeway near the Lester A. Lefton Esplanade entrance. The Center for the Visual Arts is located at 325 Terrace Drive in Kent, Ohio. Metered parking is available on Terrace Drive and behind the building.
The goal of the ARTshop is to act as a laboratory for introducing ideas about arts entrepreneurship to students. Student groups such as the Jewelry/Metals Co-Op, Textiles Club, Ceramics Club, Glass Club and the United Print Alliance create work throughout the school year to sell at special sales and now have a permanent place that the public can purchase their wares.
