Join us in the School of Art for an evening of art and demonstrations! You’ll choose two areas within the School of Art to visit for an interactive demonstration. Studio visit choices include Art Education, Art History, Jewelry/Metals/Enameling, Drawing, Painting, Print Media and Photography, Sculpture and Expanded Media, and Textiles.

Kent State University’s School of Art Collection and Galleries and the School of Art present the third annual “BFA Thesis Exhibition,” the School’s largest event of the year. Fifteen students, working in a variety of media, will have their capstone bodies of artwork on display in gallery spaces throughout the entire Center for the Visual Arts. The opening reception and celebration will take place on Friday, April 19 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. for all 15 students’ exhibitions.

Visiting artist and Stratosphere juror, Michelle Grabner will be giving an artist talk titled "The Work I Do" on Friday, April 19 from 12-1 p.m. in room 165 at Kent State's Center for the Visual Arts (325 Terrace Drive). During this talk, sponsored by Kent State University's College of the Arts, she will be discussing her artwork as well as her curatorial practice. Many in the area may recognize her as the inaugural artistic director for the FRONT International Triennial in 2018.

You are invited to the Kent State College of the Arts annual University-wide juried art show, "Stratosphere." A group art exhibition of work of 20 finalists will be on display at the School of Art's Downtown Gallery (141 East Main Street) with an opening reception on Thursday, April 18 from 5-7 p.m. The show will be on view through May 3, 2019. The theme this year was "Global Identity."

KSU Downtown Gallery April 3 - 13, 2019 Opening reception: Friday, April 5, 5-7 p.m. Going to Ground is an exchange organized for the Southern Graphics Council International by Alison Judd and Anna Gaby-Trotz. This curated body of work includes prints by 15 artists and focuses on the notion that land is something that we use to mark other losses against and that through a visceral approach to observing, studying and documenting specific locations we can be witness to change.

Kent State University's School of Art invites you to our Student Annual. This exhibition features work in all media by School of Art undergraduate majors and minors and graduate students, juried by a different guest juror each year. This year's juror is Annie Wischmeyer, Assistant Curator at the Akron Art Museum.
