High school students interested in majoring in Studio Art, Art Education and Art History are invited to a special Portfolio Day in the School of Art! Enjoy a tour of facilities, lunch, and a special lecture by the Jonathan Juravich, 2018 Ohio Teacher of the Year. The School of Art Collection and Galleries and the School of Art at Kent State University present Biennial Faculty Show, on view at the CVA Gallery from October 16 through November 16, 2018.  An opening reception with the artists will take place at the Center for the Visual Arts (325 Terrace Dr. Kent, Ohio) on Friday, October 19 from 5-7 p.m.  Both the exhibition and the reception are free and open to the public.

The School of Art at Kent State University presents an artist talk with filmmaker, Heather Lenz. During the artist talk, Ms. Lenz will show a clip of her film, "Kusama – Infinity" and will talk about her experiences writing, directing and producing the documentary, which is about artist Yayoi Kusama. This event is free and open to all.

Join us to kick off a great year at the School of Art Meet and Greet on Tuesday, August 28 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Center for the Visual Arts atrium.  Meet and mingle with faculty (new and familiar), staff and other art students.  All School of Art majors and minors are invited!  Free pizza will be provided (while it lasts)!  Introductions of new faculty will begin at 2 p.m. with the School of Art Director, Marie Bukowski.

Buoyancy: Sculpture and Works on Paper by Isabel Farnsworth

The School of Art Collection and Galleries present “Buoyancy,” a solo exhibition of sculpture and works on paper by Isabel Farnsworth.  Farnsworth’s large-scale sculptures, made of steel, wood and burlap will be displayed alongside mixed media (mono-print and gouache) two-dimensional works that were created in Florence, Italy this past spring. The exhibition will be on view from July 30 – September 8, 2018 with an opening reception on Friday, August 3 from 5-8 p.m.  The KSU Downtown Gallery is located at 141 E. Main St. in Kent, Ohio. Gallery hours are Monday - Friday 9:30 a.m.
