The Kent State University School of Art Collection and Galleries presents “Memoirs of Disintegration” by Marie Bukowski. This solo exhibition is a collection of recent prints created by Bukowski and will be on view at the KSU Downtown Gallery from December 5, 2018 through January 12, 2019. An opening reception will take place on Friday, December 7 from 5-8 p.m. during the First Friday Art Walk in downtown Kent.

Join us for the Foundations Show Reception on Thursday, Dec. 6 from 5-7 pm at the Center for the Visual Arts atrium. Foundations students will be showing their best work from Drawing I, Drawing II, 2D comp, 3D comp & Digital Media. Visitors will receive stickers to vote for their favorite artworks. Outstanding student achievement nominees will be announced at 6:30 and light refreshments will be served. Free and open to everyone.

The Kent State University School of Art Collection and Galleries presents Jewelry and Gender: Challenging the Norms at the KSU Downtown Gallery from November 2 through December 1, 2018. The exhibition, curated by Roza Maille, looks at art jewelry through the lens of gender, displayed alongside photographs of local LGBTQ+ youth, serving as models. Quotes from model interviews about their own gender expressions and identities will be included in the display, giving the viewer perspective on the spectrum of gender identities that exist, as opposed to the male/female binary.

The School of Art at Kent State University presents the next of the First Friday Lecture Series on Nov. 2 with Jonathan Juravich, 2018 Ohio Teacher of the Year and finalist for National Teacher of the Year. Mr. Juravich will speak about his approach to art education as well as his own artwork in his talk titled "The Power of Relational Connections." All lectures are free and open to the public and take place at noon in Room 165 at the Center for the Visual Arts.

An opening reception with the artists will take place at the Center for the Visual Arts (325 Terrace Dr. Kent, Ohio) on Friday, October 19 from 5-7 p.m. Both the exhibition and the reception are free and open to the public.
