Alumni and Grad Student Take Home Prizes in Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition

I am a goddess, any questions? by Jacob Sagan, a sculpture featuring Betty Boop
Three School of Art alumni and one current graduate student have been awarded prizes in the 2020 Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition, juried by Arnold Tunstall. Jacob Sagan (B.F.A. Sculpture ’20)  was awarded Second Best of Show, Emily Schmidt (B.F.A. Textiles ’19) was awarded Outstanding Work in Sculpture and Chandler Brutscher (M.F.A. Print Media and Photography ’19) was awarded the Artemis Consulting Prize for Outstanding Work in Paper. Meagan Smith, M.F.A. candidate in Textiles, was also awarded the Northeast Ohio Collective Arts Network (NEOH CAN) Journal Prize for Outstanding Work by a NEO Artist, which included an interview feature on their website

Grad student Tara Segers and art education professor Koon-Hwee Kan were also featured in the exhibition, as well as alumni Rachel Andrea Davis, Tina Grondin, Kit Palencar, and Laila Voss. The Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition is open for in-person viewing at Waterloo Arts and at Praxis Fiber Workshop and Brick Ceramic + Design Studio through Nov. 14, 2020.
