Shawn Powell Featured at Cleveland’s New Abattoir Gallery
The artists’ work focuses on overlooked quotidian objects in their work, each adopting a philosophical tangent consistent with their commentary and interests. A sly sense of humor is common ground found in both bodies of work. This is the gallery’s second exhibition after their inaugural exhibition featuring Kent State alumna Hildur Ásgeirsdóttir Jónsson and New York-based artist Kaveri Raina, which closes on July 25. The gallery, which officially opened in June, is the brainchild of Lisa Kurzner and Rose Burlingham, two veteran independent, Cleveland-based curators.
One of Powell's paintings was featured in Vanity Fair this August.
