Two undergraduate students in the Jewelry/Metals/Enameling program, Alyse Hanna and Ashley Smith, have been selected to have their work published in the book “The Art of Fine Enameling: Revisited” by Karen Cohen. This is an update for Cohen’s original book “The Art of Fine Enameling” which is 160 pages of enameling basics, tips and tricks with 21 projects of traditional and contemporary techniques with step by step instruction and photos, over 170 photos of finished enamels from 71 contemporary enamelists, and a comprehensive troubleshooting section. The new version of the book, with updated projects and new artwork images, will be published in November 2019 by Stockpole Books and Globe Pequot Press. The students’ work (pictured above, Ashley Smith (left), “Coleus", copper and enamel and Alyse Hanna (right), "Christmas Rose", electroformed copper and enamel) will be used to illustrate different enameling techniques outlined in the book.
