Advanced Study must be established prior to the junior year. Consult an academic advisor in 304 White Hall (330-672-2862) to be accepted into the education minor.
Application for admission to Advanced Study is due in room 304 White Hall (Vacca Office of Student Services) by the 2nd Friday of the semester during which you expect to complete the requirements. Passing Praxis I and Praxis Core scores are due at the time of application. The application can be accessed at the Vacca Office of Student Services website.
You MUST reapply using the online application to assure that no applications are lost in the transition. Requirements for admission are listed on the “Checklist for Admission to Advanced Study” at the Vacca Office of Student Services website. If you miss the deadline (the online application is available 3 weeks prior to the due date) make an appointment with a program counselor in 304 White Hall to discuss options. Requirements for Advanced Study are:
- Grade Point Average of 2.75 cumulative (2.5 minimum GPA for catalog years Fall 2001 and prior).
- Official Requirement (Advising) Sheet on file in 304 Vacca Office of Student Services, in the College of Education, Health and Human Services, in White Hall. This is accomplished by appointment with an academic advisor in 304 White Hall or through a written request form obtained on the Vacca Office of Student Services web site.
- Good Moral Character Affidavit is required by The Ohio Department of Education for all teacher education majors. This is obtained online at the Vacca Office Student Services website. Complete the four sections.
- Pre-advanced Study Course Work must be completed with a 2.0 or better (at KSU or transfer). These courses include: ENG 10001/11011 & ENG 10002/21011; ITEC 19525; EDPF 29525.
NOTE: EDPF 29535 Ed in a Dem Society is a prerequisite for the next two courses: ITEC 19525 Ed Tech and EDPF 29525 Ed Psych
