An Update from Festival Director Ricardo Sepúlveda

Dear Kent Blossom Music Festival Friends,

I hope this message finds you well and in good health.

On behalf of the Festival, thank you for your unconditional support this summer. Even though we were unable to be together in-person this season, we were determined to work through these difficult times to still provide you exceptional music. We were able to curate and then present a virtual five-concert rebroadcast series featuring young artists, our Cleveland Orchestra faculty, the Glauser School of Music faculty, the Miami String Quartet, and Spencer Myer, as well as past Kulas Guest Artists including Jennifer Koh, the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, Jerry Grossman, and the Emerson String Quartet. Viewers enjoyed a pre-concert talk with Philip Setzer and Jerry Grossman, both 1969 KMBF alums, about their experiences and memories of the festival.

This summer, we also created a new partnership with the Eastman School of Music. We hosted Eva Zhang, a virtual intern from the Master of Arts in Music Leadership program. Eva joined us from China for 7 weeks this summer and helped us immensely.

This festival would not have been possible without you and all your support and generosity. Thank you for your viewership and your donations.

We are excited for Summer 2021 and have already begun our recruitment efforts. We look forward to bringing 43 talented young artists next season and continuing to work with our outstanding faculty and The Cleveland Orchestra!

Please know I am always available if you would like to talk or share ideas. My direct email is rsepulv1@kent.edu or my phone number is 330-672-0397.

I am truly humbled by your commitment to Kent Blossom Music Festival and our friendship. Thank you again and I hope you and your families continue to stay safe.

Kindest regards,
Ricardo Sepúlveda
Director, Kent Blossom Music Festival
