Computer Requirement

All College of Business Administration students are required to have access to a laptop computer to complete assignments and/or for in-class activities and testing.

You should have access to either a Windows or Apple laptop running Windows 7 or Max OSX 10.7 or later.

MINIMUM LAPTOP REQUIREMENTS

You must have a laptop with the folllowing requirements or greater:

  • Intel Core i5 Processor
  • 8 GB RAM recommended; 4GB RAM is acceptable, if upgradable
  • Internal 500 GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm (7200 recommended)
  • Web Cam with 640x480 video pixel resolution
  • Headphones or built-in speakers
  • Microphone connected to the laptop or built-in
  • Web browser with Adobe Flash Player installed

INTERNET CONNECTIVITY

You must have a built-in wireless card, and an Ethernet port is recommended. Mac users may purchase ethernet adapters, if desired.


SOFTWARE

  • Microsoft Office 2016 or newer, Mac version is also acceptable
  • As you progress, you may be expected to purchase software relevant to your major

STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

The following are strongly recommended:

  • Most new laptops come with a manufacturer's warranty, but it is strongly recommended that you purchase a 3-year extended warranty to supplement and extend the manufacturer's warranty
  • Backing up files is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. It will ensure that your work is not lost if your laptop malfunctions or is stolen

FINANCIAL AID

Financial Aid may be available. Visit Kent State's Financial Aid page and select the "Cost of Attendance Increase Form for 2017-18", once available.

Laptop Lending Program

  • The Laptop Lending Program is available through Student Support Services (SSS) TRiO, a federally funded program providing free services to low income, first-generation students

TechHelp Service and Repair Center is an on-site technology sevice center, on-campus locations include the second floor of the College of Business Administration and the Tri-Towers Rotunda.
