All College of Business Administration students are required to have access to a laptop computer to complete assignments and/or for in-class activities and testing.
- Windows Users:
- Laptop running Windows 10. If you already have a laptop running Windows 7, you should be set until 2020.
- Apple Users:
- Laptop running Mac OS X 10.7 or higher
You must have a laptop with the following requirements or greater:
- Intel Core i5 Processor
- 8 GB RAM recommended; 4GB RAM is acceptable, if upgradable
- Headphones or built-in speakers
- Microphone connected to the laptop or built-in
- Web browser with Adobe Flash Player installed
- Microsoft Office 2016 or newer, Mac version is also acceptable
- Students can receive FREE Microsoft Office via the Microsoft Student Advantage Program. For more information and to download Office before you begin classes, visit the Kent State Office Support page. You will need your KSU ID and password.
- As you progress, you may be expected to purchase software relevant to your major.
The following are strongly recommended:
- Most new laptops come with a manufacturer's warranty, but it is strongly recommended that you purchase a 3-year extended warranty to supplement and extend the manufacturer's warranty
- Backing up files is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. It will ensure that your work is not lost if your laptop malfunctions or is stolen
