Dean Porr is a non-tenured Associate Professor in the Management and Information Systems department. He teaches a wide array of courses, most notably a leadership retreat, capstone experiential learning, and study-abroad. His research includes alternative teaching methods, sustainability, and leadership. He has published in numerous journals, presented papers at professional conferences, and served on editorial review boards.
Porr’s undergraduate education was pre-engineering at Bowling Green State University and industrial management at the University of Akron. He began his MBA at the University of South Carolina and finished at Ashland University. He received his Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University.
Porr spent 30 years working for numerous companies around the US and abroad before entering academia. He taught on a part-time basis for various institutions before joining Kent State in 2005.
